Media Buyer and Digital Marketer in Syria: What to Check First in Damascus and Aleppo
If your store is in Syria, the first step isn't designing an ad. Shopify is not available in Syria according to its official page, so we first check the store platform and how ads get paid. Ahmed Ebrahem is a media buyer and the founder of Saduq Agency, working online, with no office in Syria and no published client there.
First check: where will the store live?
Shopify's page, which is undated, still lists Syria among unsupported countries: no accounts, no storefront access, and no shipping there. That stands despite the US sanctions easing, so the page is the reference until it changes. That's why we pick the platform after reviewing its current terms, and we don't build a plan on a platform that could shut you out.
Second check: how will ads get paid?
I don't promise access to an ad account or that one can be opened. I found a press report saying Meta opened Syria targeting in October 2025, but no official statement from Meta, and Syria isn't on the list of countries Snap lets you target. So we test targeting and payment in practice before setting any budget. The comprehensive US program ended and the Caesar Act was repealed in December 2025, but terrorism-sponsor measures remain, so we don't work with any sanctioned entity.
What we know about the market so far
- The new pound came out in January 2026 by dropping two zeros (100 old = 1 new), so check how your prices display.
- The economy is still largely cash and offline, with Sham Cash, Syriatel Cash and MTN Cash via manual QR confirmation in a third-party plugin.
- The Central Bank allowed dealings with Visa and Mastercard in May 2026.
- Internet users number 9.25 million according to DataReportal, with no published figures for Meta platforms.
What can I show you?
I have no results from Syria. An example of remote work with a distant market: From Craft in South Africa, an identity, a calendar and 381 product cards, which is a volume of work, not a sales result. Read also how to choose a media buyer, and the media buyer in the Arab world page.
